Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens

Are*not* a few of my favorite things. In fact, I think roses are overrated, not especially pretty and a bit clichéd, and, I'm sorta more of a dog person than one to appreciate being clawed by a squirmy kitten.

And while there are 100,000 "best-of" lists floating around right now, I am going to jump on the bandwagon and list my most favorite things of the year. Not because I have something insanely unique or witty to say about these things, but because I am trying desperately to keep busy and stop stalking my inbox. I know that it's still the holidays, and that a large number of agents are not responding to writers right now, but one of the full manuscripts that I have out is with my so-far-beyond-a-dream agent. And every single time a new e-mail alert shows up on my blackberry-- I cringe. I know that it isn't likely that it is from Agent Magnificence, but I still feel sick to my stomach.

Of course, to date, it has *not* been from him, and is instead, is usually an e-mail from Priceline alerting me to a fabulous sale on a fabulous trip I *could* take if I had a husband that actually took days off, and if I had kids that didn't occasionally make me want to call dyfs on myself just to get some peace and quiet. ;) There are also the e-mail notifications from Twitter that someone has mentioned me. But before I go getting a big head and feeling all important- I figure out that it is just some annoying writer spam junk. (Get a real job, spammers!)

SO!

Without further rambling.... I give you- my Best of 2010.

Favorite Book: This was so hard, and I honestly couldn't narrow it down to just one. I had to give it a tie- which I know, I know is totally cheating. But I loved both of these books SO MUCH, but for entirely different reasons.
THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE by Jandy Nelson

ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS by Stephanie Perkins

Favorite Album: (although, I feel geriatric saying "album", it sounds so old-fashioned now that iTunes has taken over the world)
Ron Pope: The New England Sessions

I tried to pick a favorite song off the album so that I could put a video link, but I honestly couldn't pick one- the entire album is SO amazing.

Favorite Accessory: Fingerless gloves! Especially like these rad slouchy ones!

Favorite Website: Lonely Planet. Not only do they sell amazing travel books, but they also awarded me with a trip for 2 to Italy for 15 days! The hubs and I are going in April and we.are.so.STOKED!

Favorite TV Show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Okay, so I know this went off the air years ago, but I just discovered its awesomeness thanks to Netflix instant viewing. I watched all 7 seasons in about 3 weeks. Obsessed? Yes! How did I go this long without Buffy and Spike and words like "wiggins"!?

Favorite Quote of the year: (tough one!)

‎"Maybe it is time to take the Christ out of Christmas... Because if this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that he commanded us to love the poor and serve the
needy without condition, and then admit that we just don't want to do it." - Stephen Colbert

Wishing you all a very happy, safe and prosperous 2011!
