The winner of THE NEXT DOOR BOYS by Jolene Perry is.... Kate Larkindale!
Thanks so much for stopping by and entering! Look for an email from me in your inbox! :)
Also, I've never had any trouble naming characters in my books, but for some reason, the hubs and I CANNOT decide on a name for this baby on the way! We've never struggled like this before, all of the other kids we just *knew* it was the right name. We *thought* we felt like that about one name, but now it seems the hubs may be back tracking. Sigh.
Siblings are: Hailey Julia (Julia after my husbands mom), Liam Christopher (Christopher after the hubs) and Finnian Rhys (no significance...sad, huh?) So, honestly, I'd prefer not to use a family name this time just because I don't want Finn to be the only one without a family name! :)
Since most of the readers of this blog are writers, I figured you all spend a decent amount of time thinking about names, who better to ask!? PLUS, I like you guys WAY better than my friends in real life! ;)
Here's the few that we can agree on so far: (Opinions, and please feel free to throw suggestions out there!)
1. Isla (Eye-luh) (this is the name we were set on, but hubs might be backing out)
2. Delia
3. Lily (we both love this name, but know someone w/this name we can't stand so it sort of leaves a bad taste...plus it's super popular)
I love the first one :D
ReplyDeleteI know you're having a middle name crisis . . .
My daughter was almost a Norah, and I haven't yet found a character worthy of that name.
My cousin has a lily, I'd go with one of the first two. You know. Since you asked . . .
I also wanted to use the name Vivian - but that's a JOLENE family name, lol.
Good luck.
Naming kids is HARD!!
Now I'm laughing cause mine are Emma and Jack (neither of which were popular WHEN we named them -we were a year ahead of the trend, but no one will ever know . . . so sad)
Oh wow! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAs for baby names, I have a stash of girl names because I had all boys...
Devon
Ramona
Amy
Alice
Saskia
If any of them suit, feel free to use them. My baby days are over.
LOVE Norah, and Chris likes it, but I don't think he likes it "enough."

ReplyDeletecongrats, Kate!
ReplyDeleteI like Lily, but can understand the reason behind it not being a first choice. Isla is very different and I like that, too.
ReplyDeleteHere are some girl names I've always loved:
Ella
Tinsley
Kinsley
Reese
Good luck!
I like Lily and Delia, and Isla is very intriguing - but I'd worry that everyone who sees it is going to pronounce it wrong. She's going to be Iz-la in every roll call.
ReplyDeleteYou could always combine the floral-ness of Lily and the look of Delia and call her Dahlia. Dahlia Rose... it has a nice ring.
Wow, helping someone name their child, that's a lot of pressure. I like Isla, but I agree with B.E. about the roll call. I really like Lyla. Which is close to Lily and Delia.
ReplyDeleteI love Isla and of course Lily! I have a friend from high school named Lilia. I always loved that name. Kind of like Lily, but different. So pretty!
