Get Real!

Obviously I love books. But I also love book signings. I've only participated in one, but I love attending them as a reader. I feel like I'm in the presence of rock stars when I get to go and meet my favorite authors, and have them sign their gorgeous books and I get to proudly display them on my shelves.

So, how pumped was I when my oldest daughter, Hailey told me that for her birthday, instead of a party, she wanted to attend a book signing? Could I Love This Kid Any MORE?!

See, she's sort of been stalking the release date of THE LIES THAT BIND by Lisa and Laura Roecker, and it just so happens that it's being released on November 1st...her birthday.

Around the time that Hailey proclaimed that getting the Roecker gals to sign a book for her was her top gift idea, and I was about to write them and beg (and maybe offer one of my other children up for a signed book for her) (kidding), the darling sisters announced that they were touring with the amazing Janet Gurtler AND Miranda Kenneally

As a side note, this was Hailey's hair over the summer...thanks for that one, Lila! ;)
It's been a pretty rough year for Hailey. She started middle school (ugh!), moved (twice), and Chris and I lived in New Orleans the entire time Britta was in the hospital, leaving her and the other kids with their grandparents. I wanted this birthday to mark the start of a spectacular year for her. So, I booked her and I (and one of my best friends...who has never even seen the inside of an airplane) a trip to NYC to attend the signing.

ANYWAY, my point is: HOLY AMAZING TRIO!!

Sourcebooks is sending these authors all over the US as part of their GET REAL YA tour!

It wasn't that long ago that it really felt like publishers weren't giving Contemp Authors the attention that they deserve, and I am so thrilled that Sourcebooks has put this awesome tour together!
You can check out the official Facebook page for the event HERE
and see if it's coming to a city near you!!

  1. Holy cool hair. I wish I had guts to do something fun. Maybe not that radical, but something a little different at least.

You are definitely a cool mom!

I wanted to drop by and say hello because I just finished Delicate and thought it was wonderful. I finished it in one sitting and couldn't possibly put it down. Thank you for writing such an amazing book!
