Last year, I had the enormous good fortune to connect with some amazing indie authors--one of them being
Liz Reinhardt. We started talking trade stuff, then read each others books, then discovered our mutual obsession with
Marcus Flutie, and then randomly asked each other in simultaneous emails, "Do you want to co-write a book together?" And within a matter of a few weeks, we had our first draft of LENGTHS. Then, we wrote A TOAST TO THE GOOD TIMES. And in that time, we became not only business partners, but best friends.
I start everyday with a (lonnnggg) phone call to Liz (while both of our husbands roll their eyes and sigh, "why don't you ever laugh like that when I'm around?" ;). When I get lost driving to the DMV, I call Liz and within 30 seconds, she tells me to turn left at the La Quinta and follow that road, even though she's several states away. When bees swarm my house, she has a number for a beekeeper to humanely dispose of them immediately.On my kids' birthdays, there's going to be a thoughtful gift waiting on the porch for them from Aunt Liz and family. If I'm in NYC, and need to know where to find the best pizza, I call Liz, and though she gives me crap for not taking her with me, she tells me the name of the most amazing place ever.
The point is, we wouldn't be able to have this crazy, amazing partnership that has turned into one of the most important friendships in my life if it weren't for all of you. We wouldn't be able to stay up late, plotting our next project and giggling with excitement over how thrilled we are to share the next chapter of these characters stories with you all.
